Artist Statement and Biography
I began working as a figurative sculptor more than a
decade ago and over the years I have gradually created a recognisable body of
work.
I mostly work
in bronze and bronze resin to create large and small sculptures for open
spaces, intimate gardens and home interiors.
My
work aims to resonate with the ordinary but meaningful moments of our lives which remind us of our own experience. Remembering
is to re-live, to be in the same moment all
over again.
I draw my inspiration from everyday
life; often children at play. My surface working of the material imbues the sculpture
with a lively quality, evoking memories full of joy, wonder and love.
I recently completed my ‘Four Seasons’ sculpture series creating ….
‘Katy with daffodils -Spring’
I was formerly a lecturer in Art and Design for
Plymouth Institute of Education and I now teach Sculpture to individuals and small
groups. I exhibit widely throughout the country and I have been commissioned by
churches, schools and private individuals. I am always happy to receive new
commissions or tutoring enquiries.
